Intern Brassicas Breeding

As a Brassicas breeding intern, you will work in the global product design and development team. The position is based in Wageningen. The brassicas product design and development team of Bayer works in multiple aspects of brassica breeding, including the discovery of new sources of physiological traits to enrich the breeding populations. During your internship you will work on a project where you will participate in the screening and characterization of discovery-breeding populations to identify new attributes. The project consists of two key deliverables: (1) Data collection in the glasshouse and (2) data analysis with support of mixed models. For both deliverables, you will first conduct a scientific literature/IP review and second, you will build prototypes, conduct field experiments, and finally perform statistical analysis of the data collected.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Conduct IP/literature review.
•    Work in close connection with global and regional brassica product design and development experts to understand the problem and tailor the solution.
•    Conduct glasshouse experiments in brassicas breeding trials.
•    Broaden the understanding of brassicas physiologic traits
•    Improve methods to optimize trait measurement and identify new sources of commercial traits.
•    Statistical analysis of results.

WHO YOU ARE
•    You are studying towards your Master's degree in plant biology, plant sciences, plant genetics, plant breeding or any other related study.
•    You have hands-on experience with data handling and statistical analysis (R or other)
•    You have good communication skills in English, written and verbally.
•    You are a motivated and flexible person.
