Lonza is hiring a

Senior AD associate

Geleen, Netherlands
Netherlands, Geleen

Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents.  While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it.  Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people.  In exchange, we let our people own their careers.  Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world, and that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

About Analytical Development team in Geleen, The Netherlands.

We develop analytical methods for the use in the field of oligonucleotide and encapsulation analyses (think of the new mRNA vaccines that were used for Covid-19) . These include, but are not limited to, UHPLC-UV/CAD/MS, ELISAs, luminescence/fluorescence assays, capillary gel electrophoresis, sequencing, and different bioassays. Using these methods we measure all critical quality attributes for these types of vaccines and therapeutics.

The successful candidate will be part of a large and international team of scientists and research associates that make up the Analytical Development team. Here, the candidate will learn and grow to work on a large variety of analytical methods.

Key responsibilities:

  • Planning, execution and careful documentation of sample measurements.

  • Maintenance of laboratory and equipment.

  • Together with lead-scientists you are co-responsible for analytical method development.

Key requirements:

  • Finished degree in a biological or chemical discipline, with specialization in analytical chemistry (e.g. HLO, BSc, MSc).

  • Ideally the candidate is familiar with common method attributes like accuracy/precision/specificity/sensitivity and knows how to optimize them.

  • At least two years of experience in a routine analysis laboratory.

  • Either experience with LC-UV/MS OR cell-based assays (using FACS and WesternBlot) is a must (note that either one of these experiences must be demonstrated to be considered).

  • Experience with other types of analytical assays is preferred.

  • Ideally the candidate has experience with statistical analysis of data from the assays they perform.

  • The candidate is pro-active and as an analytical researcher does not stop until an assay is perfect. This requires a high degree of perseverance and an eye for perfection.

  • Fluency in English, both speaking and writing, is required.

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.

People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.
