For mRNA Business unit , located in Geleen, Netherlands we have exciting opportunities.  Become part of a group that enables its customers to meet some of the greatest challenges in patient treatment and join us by applying for the position as a Scientist/Senior Scientist mRNA in Process Development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leadership: provide scientific and technical leadership at project level. Lead lab technicians on complex projects.

  • Projects: participate in multi-disciplinary matrix teams on complex projects in the area of scientific expertise. Lead problem solving and lessons learned activities.

  • Scientific tasks: design of advanced experimental plans and their execution, in process data analysis, write and review high quality reports.

  • Customer interactions: develop strong customer relationships.

  • Training: lead training activities in the area of expertise.

  • Provide solutions to identified risks, issues, problems. Report issues in a timely fashion.

  • Facilitate improvements to departmental business processes and contribute to the implementation of innovative technologies.

  • Demonstrate flexibility to support other activities within the department.

  • Proactive approach to own continuous professional development.

Key requirements:

  • Experience in mRNA purification or very broad and deep expert-level experience and understanding of purification of biomolecules.

  • Experience with purification techniques such as chromatography (including affinity, ion exchange, hydrophobic interactions, size exclusion, etc.), tangential flow filtration (TFF) and other filtration techniques.

  • Experience in biomolecules purification techniques using preparative HPLC (Reverse phase chromatography, etc) would be a plus.

  • Knowledge of technology transfer and GMP manufacturing.

  • Implementation of DOE studies & high-throughput screening for purification processes.

  • General understanding of in vitro transcription (IVT) critical process parameters, reaction optimization and scale-up.

  • Experience within the manufacturing of large mRNA molecules including self-amplifying RNAs and circular RNAs would be a plus.

  • General understanding of the mRNA-LNP encapsulation process and relevant associated analytical methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently work in a fast paced and fluid environment.
