Purpose of the position

As the leader of the Technical Operations team, your main purpose is to showcase your expertise in technology, financial planning, and project execution. You will act as a catalyst for change, demonstrating effective leadership and administrative skills to ensure alignment with our strategic goals. Your responsibilities will include recruiting, developing, and advancing engineering and scientific talent, fostering growth through mentorship and training. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our processing, packaging, and assembly operations, overseeing impact assessments for any process changes.

In this role, you will engage with diverse groups, review pharmaceutical literature for innovative concepts, and collaborate with different teams to enhance productivity. You will also be addressing critical responsibilities such as troubleshooting, performance improvement, introducing new products, and facilitating network transfers.

Technical Operations at the Haarlem site is responsible for the execution of all Capex Projects. Capex Projects may involve modifying existing installations, as well as designing, installing, and qualifying complete packaging lines or unique machines.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and coach the Technical Operations team, shaping future leaders and fostering growth through targeted development and project opportunities.

  • Quality & Compliance Champion: Ensure consistent compliance across processing, packaging, and assembly operations, adhering our policies and regulations. Manage print coordinators, oversee machine trials, and conduct technical assessments for changes. Provide technical support for quality standards and regulatory activities .

  • Operations Optimization & Collaboration: Drive efficiency in manufacturing, packaging, and assembly by evaluating and implementing improvements. Collaborate with diverse teams to enhance productivity across Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, and IT/Automation.

  • Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide engineering guidance and project/capital support for integrating new products. Facilitate pilot process transfers to production, overseeing end-to-end project management and effective communication with stakeholders.

  • Technical & Scientific Expertise: Offer technical support in troubleshooting line issues and providing scientific justification. Utilize data analysis to illustrate the impact of changes on quality, efficiency, and productivity.

Your profile

  • Engineering degree (MSc. or BSc.) & 5-10 years of experience, ideally in highly regulated industries.

  • Extensive leadership, people management, and technical guidance experience.

  • Proven collaboration in international and cross-organizational settings.

  • Expertise in transformation, business process management, lean operations, and cultural change.

  • Skilled in end-to-end project management with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinking, innovation, and creative problem-solving.

  • Fluency in spoken and written Dutch and English, with strong communication skills.

  • Proven technical writing proficiency.
