Associate Director Procurement Logistics

Purpose of the role

The Associate Director, Procurement Logistics, is an essential resource responsible for managing staretgic catagories such as transportation, warehousing, customs brokorage, small parcel and termal packaging systems. You will own the category at a global level and work in close collaboration and alignment with other procurement category owners and Supply Chain Management organization on local, regional and global levels.

Main responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams to create strategies which both deliver quick wins and genuine innovative breakthroughs.
  • Direct responsibility and accountability for the category or categories and respective suppliers globally.
  • Prepare, organize, and directly manage strategic sourcing initiatives (RFI, RFQ, supplier negotiations) with digital sourcing tools such as Coupa, Transporeon, Ariba etc.
  • When needed prepare contracts/amendments and independently negotiate contracts with suppliers with minimal legal support, considering business needs and objectives.
  • Build relationships and manage key suppliers using proven processes to drive the realization of the full value of the key relationships.
  • Work in a way that positively engages the support of stakeholders using problem solving and proactive communication skills. Build a keen insight and understanding of business requirements and satisfy business needs.
  • Partner with supply chain and logistics in strategic digital initiatives and projects and support or lead strategy creation, supplier negotiations, project work with suppliers.
  • Participate in cross-functional supply chain and logistics optimization projects.
  • Ensure that supplier relationships are set up for future continuous improvement and to lead review processes which ensures delivery of on-going improvement.
  • Use thorough market knowledge and data analysis to gain critical insights that drive the selection of sourcing strategies and continuous improvement activities. Actively contribute to supply chain-logistics budget creation.
  • Provide guidance, counsel and leadership to the team and wider organization in matters related to the categories under management.
  • Achieve cost control, cost reduction, and cost containment targets, and add value to area of expenditure through a strong Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) orientation and process management.
  • Deliver ongoing savings as required, as well as meeting the stakeholder business requirements.
  • Participate in achieving the organization's ESG goals including but not limited to Supplier Diversity and Sustainability.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in business, economics, supply chain, logistics, or procurement).
  • MBA or advanced degree and relevant certifications are desirable.
  • Essential: 8+ years in procurement transportation/logistics or alternatively 3 years in transport/logistics operations and 5+ years in procurement.
  • Strong analytical skills for data analysis and sourcing strategies.
  • Experience with digital sourcing tools or willingness to learn.
  • Engaging with business leaders, applying sound judgment, and decision-making.
  • Comfortable in dynamic, high-speed environments.
  • Understanding global long-term visions based on industry trends.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and supplier management skills.
  • Project management and market knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • A Team player, strong negotiation skills being creative and a self-starter with a bias for action.
  • Interest in managing other categories beyond transportation if needed.
  • High-quality achiever with a focus on getting things done effectively.
  • Ability to partner, collaborate, and impact decisions at all levels.
  • Demonstrated out-of-the-box thinking in an ambiguous, transformational business environment.
  • English language fluency.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
