Location of the position

This role will be based in our European HQ in Amsterdam. The EU HQ will move to Haarlem in 2024.

The opportunity

As Associate director Innovative medicines Europe based in Amsterdam (NL) you are the business finance leader for the EU innovative medicine business, providing strategic & financial insight to the European regional innovative medicine teams (Marketing, Digital, Market Access and Medical), working on the consolidated financial data and outlooks for the local markets within Europe.

How you’ll spend your day

Business Partnership towards the head of Innovative Medicines Europe & regional business team: Support the European innovative teams in all finance fields. Preparing and presenting the financial updates and results, support on finance processes, budget ownership, expenses reporting and be an active member in the guidance and direction setting towards the European markets for the various departments that you support.

Oversight over all financial activity for Innovative medicines in Europe : Based on the various data sources make sure that quality and understanding of financial data related to the Innovative medicine business and the various therapeutic areas are on a high level to support managerial decisions. Make sure that submission are correct, compliant and in line with guidance both from Europe HQ as from market level and pro-actively flag for potential risk or deviations from expected results.

Contribute to the overall EU BP&A team & processes: You are part of the European Business planning and analysis department and contribute to the overall consolidation and reporting for actuals, LRP, AOP, RF’s. Preparing high quality submissions from guidance, process and technical perspective is part of ongoing responsibility as is coaching, instructing and supporting country BP&A teams to deliver on the requested information from the regional and global teams. Projects in the field of financial processes, business and system improvement as well as implementing new measures and reports to support commercial and finance management are key part of this function.

Your experience and qualifications

  • Academic background: minimum Bachelor’s degree in business economics or accounting or equivalent combination of education and related experience. M. Sc. or MBA with emphasis in finance, accounting or management strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a mid to large corporation
  • Advanced experience in commercial finance or financial planning and analysis roles
  • Advanced knowledge about accounting, compliance and controls (e.g. SOX compliance and local financial regulations)
  • Experience in or adequate knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proficiency in relevant IT systems, e.g. MS Excel, and preferably experience with Hyperion
  • Fluent in English and preferably able to read & speak at least one other European language
  • Strong business acumen, customer focus and strategic mind-set
  • Proven Leadership abilities, e.g. able to inspire, energize, engage as well as challenge others
  • Proven ability of working effectively in a complex matrix environment
  • Strong collaboration and good communication and presentation skills, proactive and inclusive
  • Mobile to travel for the role up to 10% of the time to (mainly) European countries.
  • Eager and with potential for career development into international leadership positions within the Teva group
